Week 3 Homework

Re-read Chapter 9 of The Catcher in the Rye. Tell the story of what happens in this chapter using third person narration. Use the narrative voice and possibly the thoughts of the other characters to reveal your feelings about Holden at this point. Position your reader to view Holden in the way you choose. Do you want readers to view him as a lonely adolescent with whom they should sympathise, as a loser and a dropout or in some other way.

Homework - Weeks 1/2

In class we have been looking at the idea that texts construct versions of childhood. Winnie the Pooh (the book NOT the movie!) is a good example of a text that constructs a clear version of childhood.
Write three paragraphs explaining this version and supporting your argument with evidence. In paragraph one, clearly outline the version of childhood constructed by the text. In paragraphs two and three, give your evidence for this. Paragraph two should deal with the written text and paragraph three with the visuals.
Your work should be posted on your blog by 4pm on Friday, February 4th.
