Re-read Chapter 9 of The Catcher in the Rye. Tell the story of what happens in this chapter using third person narration. Use the narrative voice and possibly the thoughts of the other characters to reveal your feelings about Holden at this point. Position your reader to view Holden in the way you choose. Do you want readers to view him as a lonely adolescent with whom they should sympathise, as a loser and a dropout or in some other way.

Term 3 Week 3 Homework

Trace the changes that we see in Macbeth from the opening scenes when he is presented to us as "brave Macbeth", the hero, to the "tyrant" Macbeth we see described by Lennox in Act 3, Scene 6 and by Malcolm in Act 4, Scene 3, lines 67-68. Consider both how he is described by others and how the play positions readers to view him through his actions and his own words.

Write a paragraph which might act as the introductory paragraph to a conference paper on the way the article by Philip Adams constructs a version of childhood. You should identify the key elements of the version of childhood and the main points you would want to cover in this paper about how the version is constructed. In class, we have focussed on selection and oragnisation of material as well as use of language, so remember to consider these.
